Legend has it that in Girona there was a convent of nuns in the district of Mercadal, near the river Onyar. Some of the nuns were not very good and decided to lock in the basement the only devout nun, who reproached the others for their wayward attitude. Over time and because of the humidity in the cell, that poor nun was transformed into a crocodile. But thanks to his kindness, he grew beautiful wings on his back. He became Crocodile, half crocodile ( coco -dril), half butterfly (papa- llona ), a fantastic being. Today, only on full moon nights, the most sensitive people can encounter the ghost of the cocollona near the river.
